Aromatherapy
& Flower Essence Workshops
|
|
Bright Autumn Greetings!
I have had many requests
for classes on Aromatherapy and Flower Essences. Having just attended the Healing with Flowers Conference at Rowe and obtaining
MANY new essences and lots more information on their uses; I thought this would be the perfect time for offering some workshops. I
am also continuously acquiring new essential oils to add to my already burgeoning collection. During these stressful times
many people are seeking an alternative to allopathic medicine and the side effects that come from them. In these two upcoming
workshops I will share the basics of how these modalities work and how we can use them to assist us in dealing with stress. So
come join me and learn how you can use these beautiful essences (both aromatic and vibrational) to ease the tension and worries
that seem to accompany us through our daily lives.

Vinyasa Yoga
|
Vinyasa Yoga
- with John Lima Wednesdays: 8:30 - 9:45am Fridays: 5:30 - 6:45pm
This class will offer a mixed level Vinyasa class with varied and alternating body focus, ie; standing postures, shoulders,
core, etc. Those completely new to yoga may find it challenging but they won't feel left out, whereas intermediate and more
experienced yogis will strengthen and maintain their practice. A native Rhode Islander raised in South
County, John has pursued such diverse activities including cycling, martial arts/tai chi, and of course, yoga. His earliest
exposure to yoga began in the 1970's as a child imitating his older sister through a handful of postures that would remain
with him: full lotus, shoulder stand, and a squatting posture. The importance of a flexible body and the fluidity it
provides brought him to the expansiveness and dynamics of yoga, particularly Vinyasa influenced by Hatha Yoga and Iyengar.
After six years of practice, John recently completed the 'Spirit Tree' yoga teacher training program under the direction of
Cathy Cesario in Wakefield, RI at the 200hr level. The integration of the body, mind, and spirit to oneself and others
continues to sustain and enlighten his practice both on and off the mat. Besides yoga, John plays guitar, bass, piano,
flute, and the Indian drone instrument, the Tanpura. Woodworking and sailing with his wife in Wickford are among some
of his hobbies. Cost: $12 per class for drop-ins, $10 per class for series of 6 or more

Rossiter. The participants will begin understand how this powerful system works to relieve back pain, knee pain, shoulder
pain, neck, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, fibromyalgia, and whatever pain you bring to the class.
"Martha, my wife, was is such pain, she couldn't
do her favorite thing in the world - gardening. It was so sad to watch! We tried every modality, Eastern and Western, and
not one thing even touched her pain! I called Rossiter. We went to Cincinnati and Richard coached Martha through two workouts
per day for 4 days - she came home pain free!!! We learned how to do the easy workouts to continue to help each other and
our friends. And she is out in the garden again!"
The key to pain in
the body or difficulty in stretching is Connective Tissue...and it does what it says -- it connects every part in the body to all the other parts.
It connects bones to bones, muscles to bones, muscles to muscles. You've probably heard it referred to by other names -- cartilage,
ligaments and tendons. Connective tissue gives the human body its form Inside your body, connective tissue is critical! This incredibly flexible stuff holds everything in place --
tiny cells, small muscles, little bones, big muscles, entire organs. It gives shape to the human body. It gives the body form
and space in which internal body parts can function normally. It holds everything very gently. It wraps without squeezing.
Bones and skeleton determine a person's height. Muscles give a person strength and bulk. Connective tissue creates the body's
space .
The
Rossiter System simply returns lost space to the body.
Every human body, including the body's connective tissue system, endures
a normal amount of daily wear and tear. But when connective tissue becomes stressed, it shortens and thickens, and it does
so every day, depending on the kinds of activities you do. Usually, a good night's sleep and sufficiently healthful lifestyle
help the connective tissue return to normal the next day.
But when connective tissue can't bounce back in a day, it continues to
shorten and thicken, not just at the place it is overworked or stressed, but everywhere. Common sensations include tight muscles,
tingling, soreness, loss of strength, buzzing, aching, throbbing, numbness and pain. These are the major symptoms of repetitive
stress injuries. Repetitive Motion/Repetitive Stress Injuries
All repetitive stress injuries are directly linked to a loss of space
in the body. Most people who experience problems like carpal tunnel syndrome or constant shoulder pain say they quit moving
that part of the body because it hurts so much. It tingles at night. It feels numb. It aches 24 hours a day. Every movement
produces soreness or tightness. Why? The body has lost the space or range of motion necessary for healthy, pain-free tissue.
In essence, a repetitive motion/repetitive stress injury means a specific
area's connective tissue continues to shrink and shorten because of a lack of food, poor or restricted movement, or both.
And if connective tissue in a specific spot is negatively affected, connective tissue elsewhere will suffer by virtue of its
connection. When people compensate for pain, it makes the entire pain situation even more complex because so many body parts,
movements and habits are involved.
The Rossiter System lengthens connective
tissue so that pain goes away and pain-free movement returns.

That Works! Share it with others!

Shamanic Drum Meditation with Debbie Gleadow Sunday
March 21, 2010 1:00 - 4:00pm
Shamanic Drum Meditation
Shamanism is a practice where one learns to communicate with spirit in all forms. One builds relationships
with these divine helpers to understand oneself more fully. We all have a different role in the World.
Similarly, Spirit has various roles as well. Plants, animals, places and all living things inhabit
spirit and by communicating with them, we can bring their knowledge, energy and wisdom into our own reality.
Shamanic drumming is a tool that is widely used in Shamanism. The drum will be used to guide our
meditations as we meet and work with specific guides. It is so empowering to get in literal touch with
your guides and to become comfortable going to them for answers.
You will be taught to access the Upper and Lower Worlds to connect with your Higher Self and meet your Power Animal
through Shamanic Journeying. You will learn more about the amazing person that you are by gaining insight and wisdom from
these parts of you!
Bring a journal and a pen. You may bring items, drums and pictures to be placed in our circle to
be blessed.
Cost: $25.00 per
person. Pre-registration is required.
