Vinyasa Yoga
- with John Lima Wednesdays: 8:30 - 9:45am Fridays: 5:30 - 6:45pm
This class will offer a mixed level Vinyasa class with varied and alternating body focus, ie; standing postures, shoulders,
core, etc. Those completely new to yoga may find it challenging but they won't feel left out, whereas intermediate and more
experienced yogis will strengthen and maintain their practice. A native Rhode Islander raised in South
County, John has pursued such diverse activities including cycling, martial arts/tai chi, and of course, yoga. His earliest
exposure to yoga began in the 1970's as a child imitating his older sister through a handful of postures that would remain
with him: full lotus, shoulder stand, and a squatting posture. The importance of a flexible body and the fluidity it
provides brought him to the expansiveness and dynamics of yoga, particularly Vinyasa influenced by Hatha Yoga and Iyengar.
After six years of practice, John recently completed the 'Spirit Tree' yoga teacher training program under the direction of
Cathy Cesario in Wakefield, RI at the 200hr level. The integration of the body, mind, and spirit to oneself and others
continues to sustain and enlighten his practice both on and off the mat. Besides yoga, John plays guitar, bass, piano,
flute, and the Indian drone instrument, the Tanpura. Woodworking and sailing with his wife in Wickford are among some
of his hobbies. Cost: $12 per class for drop-ins, $10 per class for series of 6 or more
