Ellen
Champlin - My grandmother took me to my 1st yoga class when I was
12 - so I thought it was for "old ladies" and never went back.
I started "jogging", instead, when I was 19, and running became
the best way for me to control my weight, and clear my head - completed
the NYC marathon in 1991. I happened to attend a Community Yoga Class
at All That Matters led by Cathy Cesario - and was drawn to her calm,
positive personality and started taking her weekly Yoga/Pilates classes
- to "stretch" after running. Then I started seeing more benefits
in my body and mind from classes, so I ventured into different kinds of
yoga classes such as Vinyasa, Hatha, and Ashtanga on a more regular basis.
5 years ago, I developed plantar fasciitis in the left foot and couldn't run anymore - so yoga became the focal point of my life. I was hooked! I soon felt empowered and wanted to share this new energy with anyone who was willing to listen, and give back some of the "gifts" I have received. I completed my 200 hr Yoga Alliance Teacher Certification this past summer with Spirittree Yoga, directed by Cathy Cesario. I also lead a few Community Classes and assist at the monthly Gong Bath Meditations at All That Matters. I continue to train with experienced teachers who focus on proper alignment and breath awareness - focusing on these areas in my own teaching which are the fundamentals of any healing therapy!
